Art deco family home

The clients of this wonderful art deco property were about to undergo a large extension, so asked for my help with spatial planning, as well as developing a design scheme for them. This wonderful 1930s home was renovated from top to toe, including knocking walls down, putting walls up, adding a skylight, installing sliding doors, incorporating a laundry chute and...the beloved oriel window.
Here you see the main family spaces, where the wonderfully simple kitchen cabinets I designed are punctuated with vintage and characterful elements, in line with the design scheme. The stunning oriel window is softened with cushions and sheepskin and offers a great place to perch and enjoy the garden.
The concept I developed for was a 50/50 balance of modern and vintage pieces, using nature inspired colours and bringing the outdoors in, wherever you are in the house. The result is a beautiful, welcoming and characterful home with light and bright spaces, as well as cosy areas to share with family and friends. My client has continued to add layers of treasured heirlooms, vintage finds and new purchases, always adhering  to the design direction I developed uniquely for her home.
